Dusty Blogs

How embarrassing.
Haven't had any time to post anything for a few months - let alone visit my own blogs.
Didn't have enough time to make a Christmas card this year either.
So I'll just recycle my old one:

Merry Christmas!

Will probably TRY to organise my filing system at least and post bits and pieces as I go.
I feel like an old hag for saying this, but it takes me ages to post a blog entry.

Postcards

Here are the postcards designed for the Postcard Viewer.
Apart from the few that are already filled with graphics, they work as dialogue boxes for our writer to send messages to individuals. Or for our programmer to send out a mass invite/ certificate etc.
These could also work to advertise new games, items, and other activities you may have in the future. Since we didn't want to have annoying pop-ups to announce new games, items and other activities on Dinosawus, we decided to send out cute postcards instead.

The whole procedure for the interface and the postcard designs done was plastered with my creative block, so I shall end this post with a visual of my frustration:

Slime graphics for Gunge

Gunge - it is very exciting.
We are in the midst of releasing something called Gunge Gear.
Gunge Gear is a multi-player interaction for players to shoot at each other with slime with GUNS! Oh yes. Life is sweet. The weapons are to be seen here.
The image I have for this post isn't as exciting. But when Gunge arrives, you will be very excited.

Gunge Gear Concepts

While I am against senseless violence, I am all for a bit of fun (and also shooting). When I was asked to design a few weapons for our new interactive concept "Gunge Gear", I was thrilled.
Here are a few concepts I came up with very early on, but were far too complex to use for our tiny little dinosaur avatars.
Here are previews of the first Gunge guns. They are a little babyish but due to complexity with programming, I had to resort to something chunky and simple (and I am not making this up!).

SPLAT!

Nathan our programmer has come up with a new idea for a multi-player game - we're calling it Splat.
It's similar to a cannon ball game where 2 players can aim and fire cannon balls at each other. Violent? - I think not.
Before I go and spoil what is about to become our pride and joy, let me just show you the process of "The Making of Splat" through none other than IMAGES (oooohh)

This is what Nathan and I produce after our first meeting:

Yes. Very exciting and mind boggling stuff! (At this stage, we were thinking of using catapult to fling things at each other)

Time for Anna's special power-brainstorming!:

+ Brief meeting with Nathan

After some really bad drawings, and mundane ideas, comes a moment of creative flow.
This is where I really sit down and TRY to draw:

So this is the basic concept of our Splat screen.
Most ideas have changed. I have come up with a complete different idea for a "catapult".

+ Another brief meeting with Nathan

And the character design:

Once I'm feeling confident and Nathan and I agree on everything, I start vectorising all the elements.
This is the first draft where I haven't bothered to make it pretty:

And little by little, I start to add more to the screen:

You can never have enough information, so you just keep going till you're happy with it:

Finally, I'm somewhat happy with it. (And Chris no longer wants me working on this game)

I then move on to create different animation states.

These are our angry "balls":

Aren't they adorable... Awww

Now, it's all up to Nathan to put them together and make the magic happen.

Postcard Viewer

We're finally going to be able to send messages to players!
Thankfully I no longer need to create a different postcard (near the house) every time we want to announce something. Here are the postcards we have available
Still needs a few things edited...
*note to self: edit those things

New Pop Stars!

Here are some funky looking new characters for new Dinosawus members as a part of a promotional package. At this moment, they won't be created as avatars however - it involves too much work!!

Avatar actions

First 3 simple actions I've been working on are: Wave, clap and thumbs-up motions.

Adventure certificates

Finally getting the adventures up and going!! (well,... sort of)

Adventure #1:

Adventure #2:

Fearless Five: Chapter 6

Drawings:

There are a few fill-up chapters. So it's been less motivating to work on them, but here's chapter 6. I hope it stays up for a while since all the drawings take a lot of effort and time.

Mail Time

Just a few pop-up designs that would deliver messages from Behind-thhe Scene! Or for them to send us messages - which we always post the following week.
Our readers always send in the most original ideas and messages that keep us going (and laughing).

DinoSawUs Town Hall Interior

After a long wait, the town hall is finally here.
It was another painful process, as the exterior was designed by a different designer yet again, so this scene not only had to match the exterior, but also had to obtain certain kind of elegance a town hall would.

It is also important for the scenes to look warm, hence the overpowering shades of yellow.
AND this scene also needed to look more "humble" than the museum.

Concept drawing:

Hopefully I won't need to design another scene for a while
